"my guys"

I just made a few pictures of the guys I'm living with. Unfortunately, the quality is bad because I made them with my mobile phone. I'll try to get a few better pictures soon.left: Paraic, right: Martin (The guy in the middle doesn't live in our house.)Enda.

pictures of my university

After having had the flu and after having had no internet for the last 2 weeks, I am BACK!
I managed to get myself involved in the committe of the International Society of my university and that means I have to go partying at least twice during the week! *lol* The first party was a bring-a-plate party where everybody had to cook something, bring it to the party, and then you could tase the food from the other people. After eating we did the traditional Irish dance which was extremely chaotic because none of the international students knew how to dance it, obviously. However, I cannot continue doing Irish folk dance (the Ceili) because I am living together with two band members of a rock band and they think that the Ceili is extremely uncool and I don't want to appear uncool! *lol* Well, the real reason why I'm not doing the Irish dance course is that I'm extremely unmusical.

That's usually our meeting point at uni, we call it "the ugly yellow thing". I absolutely have no idea what it is really supposed to be .

That's another ugly statue at uni. It's called "Twin Spires".
That is the Quadrangle, the oldest part of the National University of Ireland, Galway (Isn't that a cool-sounding name? *lol*). But some people call it Hogwarts. Although I know nothing about Harry Potter, I totally agree with them.
Look at the grass: it is much greener in Ireland!

more drinking

University has finally started, but the first week wasn't really busy because most seminars and lectures didn't even take place. However, I'll be taking a mixture of different courses, e.g. Spanish, Drama and Theatre Studies, Critical Theory and Practice, Early American Writing, America from 1941 to 1975, Imagining Modern Ireland, European Politics....
Everybody here at university seems to be really nice and helpful. But when I met the very friendly Head of the History Department of NUI Galway I got to know that the University Kassel's History Department has a really bad reputation even across the ocean. How embarrasssing is that? Fortunately, I'm not studying History as such in Kassel! :-)
The most important things we learned at our Orientation Day at university are:
DON'T TRY TO OUTDRINK AN IRISH! (You wouldn't win anyway!) and
DON'T TAKE UP THE IRISH DRINKING HABITS!
Well, after having you told this, I'll show you more pictures of me drinking! *lol*
After partying in the Cellar Bar, ...
... my friend Katharina had to sleep on the coach cushions on the floor of my room because she lives quite far away from the city centre.
But we had been so nice to tell the guys, who are living with me, why the cushions are missing. While doing that we realized that the coach needs tidying up! *lol*

We went to the beach to drink cheap cider and freeze our butts off.

That picture is especially for Sara because she wanted to know how my corset looks like.

Yes, I'm cuddling my cider! :-)
